2020 Spring Train Write-In

A train moving through an evergreen forest with flowers blooming by the tracks.

Update: The 2020 Spring Train Write-in, originally rescheduled for June 13, is now canceled due to the pandemic. I hope to write with you all again soon!

Come write on a train with me! The second annual Spring Train Write-In will be Saturday, March 28. 🚂🚂

We’ll board a train in Seattle and write all the way down to Portland. From there, we’ll make our merry way to Powell’s Books, an indie bookstore that takes up an entire city block (and buys used books if you want to sell). You’ll have seven hours to wander around Portland, sample food trucks, and explore the city. Then we’ll get back on a train and write our way back up to Seattle.

Train schedule from the Amtrak website. See text of post for times and dates.

IMPORTANT: We need to arrive at the stations an hour before departure so we can ask them to put us in the same train car. Unfortunately, there’s no way to do this in advance. If you board the train at a different station, I can’t guarantee we’ll sit together.

Here’s the travel schedule.

Departure: Saturday, March 28. Be at Seattle King Street Station (SEA) by 6:25 a.m. The train leaves at 7:25 a.m., and it’s the 501 Amtrak Cascades to Portland Union Station (PDX). We’ll arrive in Portland at 10:55 a.m.

Return: Saturday, March 28. Be at Portland Union Station by 6:20 p.m. The train leaves at 7:20 p.m., and it’s the 508 Amtrak Cascades to Seattle King Street Station. We’ll arrive in Seattle at 10:50 p.m.

Amtrak is wheelchair accessible. If I can help make this trip accessible for you, please tell me on the RSVP form or in the comments below. 🙂

Ticket prices are currently $63. They’ll go up as the date gets closer. Book a ticket here.

⭐⭐After you buy your ticket, please RSVP here. I’ll need your email address so I can send you updates and info for the trip.⭐⭐
